Deeply linked together is “Reggae” and “Rastafari”. I will write of the importance in which Reggae music plays in the “Rastafarian” faith. After that you’ll know why “Reggae” is a crucial “weapon”/tool to “Rastafari”.

Reggae music, also known as the King’s music, is a means by which “Rasta” was able to convey a message of spirituality. “Reggae” music is s spiritual music. It is the only music that has spiritual ingredients, seen?”- Peter Tosh.

Bob Marley“, “Dennis Brown“, “Garnett Silk“, “T’jean Bennett“, “Jelliss“, “Jahbar I“, “Micah Shemaiah” and many others are strong advocates of the spiritual message of “Rastafari” through “Reggae”.

Spiritual Message in Reggae

A very powerful means of transporting the message of “Rastafari” was through Reggae music. Although known for its efforts of liberation of the black people, fight against oppression and so on.

Similarly it advocates for equality, freedom from the religious, economic, social, and political domination. The reality is, that for we of the “Faith” of “Rastafari” Reggae is a means to spread the spiritual awareness to the people.

Reggae is a music that fights for the oppressed people around the world. Reggae music promotes the philosophy of “Haile Selassie I”. The new “Gospel” advocating for the truth through “reggae”.

Also known as the Kings music, we can find here in the in the book of Ephesians 5:19 says speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord.

Here we can see that we must sing and make music from the heart unto HIM. Therefore, Reggae music is a music to give praise and worship to the “Most High”.

Though “Reggae” fights to end oppression, for the “Rastafarian” faith it is to convey a spiritual message first. I will have written this article, to share the primary goal of “Reggae” for the true “Rastafarian” faithful.

Sorry to say, but though herb(weed) is important it’s not the main message of “Rastafari”. “I will sing of your love and justice; to you, LORD, I will sing praise” psalms 101:1.
