His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I, is very much highly esteemed by us of the “Rastafari” faith. But the question many seem to always ask is why is HIM so highly esteemed? Why is a king, so important to the “Rasta” faith? As discussed in the “history of Rastafari: The Israelites“.

The connection between “Rastafari” and “Israelites” goes way beyond the crowning of HIM. I will have written this article, identifying why we “Rasta” hold the king which sitteth on “David’s” throne is so highly esteemed.

Our history as “Rasta” stems all the way to “Abraham”. Genesis 12:2 it says “And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing”.

“God” also told Abraham that Kings should come from his line and that “God” has established an everlasting covenant between “God” and “Abraham and his descendants”.

From “Abraham” to “Jacob” whom the “Most High” renamed “Israel”. From “Jacob” to “Judah” all the way to “David” was the “Abrahamic Covenant” still blessed unto the “Children of Israel”.

It is important that anyone reading this for the first time and is very much interested in the faith. I encourage you to read your “bible” for yourself to really know “Rastafari”. His Imperial Majesty speech on “The Bible” will help you to understand why it is important for one to read.

One chapter per day from Genesis 1 to Revelations 22. In addition, one must read with a clear conscience and a humbleness of a child for in it is found truth and salvation. Without skipping a page or a day one must seek the word of HIM. This is the “Orthodox Way of Life“.

The First King of Israel

After that, being led through the wilderness by “Moses”. Joshua, took over and started to lead the “Children of Israel” through the promise land. “Joshua” conquered the promise land while also dividing the land among the “Children of Israel”. He was “a man in  whom is the spirit”.

Fast track a few years later, as we are focusing on “His Imperial Majesty”. To the days of “Samuel” the “High Priest” and a “Prophet” of “Israel”. We being envious of the enemies that we’ve come across and their “leaders” asked the “Most High” for a King to rule over us.

Thus was “King Saul” appointed over us.  The first “King” of Israel Saul, was therefore appointed over us. Due to the lack of faith in the “Most High” we asked for a “King” to be appointed over us.

Saul started out as a righteous “King” over us, but due to incomplete obedience in the ways of “Jah”. He was eventually dethrone for leading the nation of “Israel” away from the “commandments” of the “Most High”.

After Saul, “Samuel” the “High Priest” at the time appointed “King David”  to rule over “Israel”, in whom the “Most High” made an “Everlasting” covenant. Which today still stands.

“Nathan” the “Prohphet” got a vision from the “Most High of Israel” that “King David would establish a house for the “Most High”. “David” was to build a “House” for the “Most High” to keep the “Ark of the Covenant”.

Davidic Covenant Established

“The Most High God of Israel” had established in the very “heavens” and have made a covenant with “David” his chosen. “David” and his seed shall the “Most High” establish for ever and build up his throne to all generations. Selah.

The “Most High” hath sworn unto “King David” his chosen his faithful servant. Out of all the nation of “Israel” only “David” had a heart like unto the “Most High”. With holy oil was “David” anointed by HIM. The “Arm of the Most High” shall strengthen “David” and his seed forever.

“David” and his seed shall shall be higher than all the “kings” of the earth. His seed shall the “Most High” make to endure forever and his throne as the days of heaven.

Although, not all his seed shall walk in the ways of the “Most High” he will visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. The “Most High” nevertheless will not remove his loving kindness nor break his covenant with “David” his chosen.

The “Most High” hath sworn by his holiness and will not lie. “David’s” seed shall endure forever, and his throne as the sun before “Jah”. It shall be established for ever as the moon and as a faithfulness in heaven. That means that just as the sun and moon is perpetual so shall the throne of “David” forever.

This was taken from Psalms 89, Psalm of the Davidic Covenant. “David” gathered all the material needed to build the “House of the Lord”. After, “David” Solomon sat next on the “Throne” and had built and established the “Throne” for his father “David”.

Hence it being named the “Solomonic Throne”.

Christ Points to the Comforter

David to the exile to Babylon was fourteen generations; and from the carrying away to Babylon to the Christ, fourteen generations. Christ, “Yahashua” also known as “Jesus” was of the bloodline of “David”. So here we see that the “covenant” established with “David” was still perpetual in the days of Christ.

In the book of John chapter 14, we find where “Christ” points us to the “Comforter” to come. “Christ” spoke unto the disciples that He and the “Father” are one. He in the “Father” and the “Father” in HIM.

“Christ” also spoke unto the disciples saying ” And I will pray unto the “Father”, and he shall give you another “Comforter”, that he may abide with you for ever.

Even the “Spirit of Truth” whom the world cannot receive because the world seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dweelth with you, and shall be in you”.

“Yahashua” also spoke telling them he will not leave us comfortless. That he will come to us. Thou the world might not see HIM no more, we shall see HIM because he lives, so we shall live also.

Many things was spoken of by “Christ” unto us. He also said, “But the “Comforter”, which is the “Holy Spirit”, whom the “Father” will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”.

The Comforter

Haile Selassie is Christ in his kingly character “Rastafari”

From the days of “Christ” to “His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I” we find the covenant made with “David” still stands. On November 2nd 1930, “Rastafari” was crowned “King of Kings Lord of Lords the Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah” The Root of David.

Revelations 5:5 reveals that “And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book and to loose the seven seals thereof”.

The Comforter Speaks on Christ

“When Jesus Christ was born from Virgin Mary, from that time on He lived an exemplary life. A life which men everywhere must emulate. This Life and the Faith that He taught Us assures Us of Salvation. Assures Us also of Harmony and Good Life upon Earth.

Because the Exemplary Character of the Life of Jesus Christ it is necessary that all men do their Maximum in their Human Efforts. To see to it that they approximate as much as they can the Good Example that as been set by Him.

“It is quite true that there is no perfection in humanity. From time to time we make mistakes, we do commit sins. But even as we do that, deep in Our hearts as Christians we know we have forgiveness from the Almighty. He taught Us all who seek Him shall Find Him. To live in this Healthy Life, a Christian Life, is what makes Me follow Jesus Christ.”

For Christian people no day is as glorious and as joyous as the day on which they commemorate the Nativity of Our Saviour Jesus Christ. On this day each one of Us tries to forget his worries and his anxieties and endeavours to alleviate those of his loved ones and friends.

And to forgive those who have wronged Him, so as only to mediate on the life of Him who is Supreme Lord in All.

Christ Message

From Our early childhood We are struck by the sentiments of unfathomable mystery, simple and yet sublime, which stirs up in Us the evocation of the Birth of the Divine Child.

The Mystery of Bethlehem reveals itself in our spirits, more fascinating the more we advance on the path of life. And the more we realize the magnitude of the mission each one of us has to accomplish in this world, be it humble or noble, ardous or thankless.

An unheard of event, expected for more then forty centuries has at last been accomplished: the Son of God is born. He has only a stable for His palace and a manger for a cradle.

The hearts of the wise are thrilled by this majestic humility, and the kings of the Earth bend their knees before Him and worship Him.

‘Peace on Earth, goodwill to men,’ -this was His first message. In the same manner when He went to the summit of Calvery, there to expiate for our sins with the supreme sacrifice.

He gave up His last breath invoking forgiveness for His very tormentors: ‘Father forgive them, for they know not what they do.’

Rastafari the True Christian

In pondering over the life, the goodness, humanity and sacrifice of the Saviour of the World. In looking at the laws which He gave us, how much should we be ashamed to call ourselves Christian people.

And yet not to follow His footsteps. Had we been Christian people, had we been worthy of the name. Peace would have reigned on all the face of the Earth.

And would have risen to the level of the immortal angels who always glorify the Eternal God, and the peoples of the world would no longer have remained divided into hostile camps.

In very truth there are no interest or reasons, however legitimate they may be, that can justify war”.

The Throne Today

Even today, the “Throne” still stands. The “Throne” still has a “King” just like the “Covenant” made with “David” and the “Most High” had been established. Today, the “grandson” of “His Imperial Majesty” sits on that very “Throne”.

The Crowned Prince of Ethiopia by official record but unto us who are of the “faith” acknowledge HIM as our “King”. His name, “His Imperial Highness Zera Yacob Asfa Wossen Ahma Selassie“.

The “King” today which still sits on “Solomons Throne” in the “Davidic Kingdom”.

Isaiah:16:5
In love a throne will be established; in faithfulness a man will sit on it– one from the house of David– one who in judging seeks justice and speeds the cause of righteousness.
